5 MINUTES WITH
ABIGAIL O’NEILL: MODEL, AUTHOR OF MODEL CHOCOLATE, FOOD PHOTOGRAPHER.
I CAN’T LIVE WITHOUT … my CHOCOLATE – I have to have one of my raw Model Chocolate treats at least once a day. I believe indulgence is healthy.
I RELAX BY … surfing/yoga or taking a long cacao butter bath with essential oils and spices (as on my blog).
I LIKE TO … read health/beauty/wellness books.
I THINK BEAUTY IS … the biggest toothie smile! A smile crosses all beauty boundaries.
MY FRIDGE USUALLY CONTAINS … mountains of fresh greens, vegatables, coconut water, superfoods such as bee pollen, raw chocolate!
MY EXERCISE ROUTINE IS … I’ve recently got into Bikram yoga and LOVING it! I also have a new set of ‘stairs’ up the side of my ‘hill’ on my four acre property and it’s amazing to run up and down followed by a walk/sprints and a few stretches overlooking the mountains where I live. Looking forward to surfing lots over summer! I ride a 9.4 longboard, noserides are honestly the best feeling EVER.
MY FAVOURITE BEAUTY TREATMENT THAT LEAVES ME LOOKING AND FEELING NATURALLY BEAUTIFUL IS … hmmm I love a nice ‘sunbath’ – you know just LAY in the morning sun followed by a loofah body scrub, cold shower and coconut oil/fresh aloe rub.
MY NUMBER ONE BEAUTY TIP IS … alkalise!
Abigail O’Neill is an Australian fashion model, author of Model Chocolate, food photographer and an expert in vegetarian, raw and vegan cookery. She is based in Australia and has three children.
Model Chocolate was released as an e-book featuring 70+ easy, mostly raw, sugar free, gluten free and dairy free chocolate recipes as well as 50 fashion editorial inspired images in November 2012.
Having garnered a loyal following of chocolate lovers, an extended print edition of Model Chocolate was released in August 2013. The print edition features new recipes in addition to the favourites from the e-book alongside even more fashion images including a ‘Vogue Italia’ inspired ‘fashion meets superfood‘ editorial.
Abigail began work on the Model Chocolate recipe book two years ago, of her inspiration to create the book Abigail says, “I wanted to zone in on the kind of chocolate I make, because it’s so easy to prepare & we know everyone loves chocolate! My goal for Model Chocolate is that people everywhere are provided with easy, tasty chocolate options they can eat while at the same time preserving the earth and their health. Making this kind of chocolate is so liberating. Instead of battling addictions to sugar, processed fats & unwanted additives people can become equipped to make choices that contribute to a vibrant healthy life.”
Abigail’s modeling career has also influenced Model Chocolate heavily; the 50 fashion magazine inspired images by well-known Australian photographer, Damien Nikora and illustrations and poems contributed by the likes of leading Australian fashion model Jemma Baines make Model Chocolate a beautiful coffee table book as well.
Abigail, who has been eating Model Chocolate recipes almost everyday over the course of the project says, “It’s a real testament to the chocolate that I haven’t put on a lot of weight, of course you need to eat healthy and exercise as well, but Model Chocolate is full of recipes you can enjoy without all the negative effects. This is simply one small area of our lives that can be transformed resulting in maximum benefit.”
In addition to an abundance of raw chocolate recipes, Model Chocolate also features a facemask, beauty bath and delicious milk and cream alternatives. Model Chocolate is unlike any other chocolate you’ve experienced before.
Although particularly in love with good food, Abigail enjoys writing regularly on topics relating to health, beauty and wellness, and contributes to various online publications including The Chalkboard and Organice Your Life
