I CAN’T LIVE WITHOUT … two things, cuddles from my gorgeous girls and my hunky man! My family make me incredibly happy and keep me focused on what the important things are in life.

I RELAX BY … soaking in a hot mineral bath with essential oils and candles, followed by a cup of herbal tea. Time to myself is bliss and something I really appreciate with a busy family and career.

I LIKE TO … create divine food from nothing but humble plants. I’m a big dinner party girl and love cooking for others and sharing new recipes. I delight in surprising people with how delicious food can be free from animal products, gluten or sugar. Socialising and keeping relationships alive with friends is super important.

I THINK BEAUTY IS … something that comes from within. True beauty radiates from those who have a shining soul, a brilliant smile, a passion for helping others and love for themselves. Eating a clean, organic whole-food plant-based diet, moving well, thinking well and using lovely natural products on your skin and in the home all contribute to glowing skin, white eyes, strong hair and nails – the kinds of exterior beauty that are a sign of true health and happiness.

MY FAVOURITE BEAUTY TREATMENT THAT LEAVES ME LOOKING AND FEELING NATURALLY BEAUTIFUL IS … juice fasting. After a day or two of consuming nothing but slow-pressed organic vegetable juices and mineral water my skin looks amazing. Giving your body an occasional rest from digestive processes that take over 60% of our bodies energy, frees up that energy for healing other areas of the body, such as creating and renewing cells. I swear it transforms the skin, not to mention your mind and body.

MY NUMBER ONE BEAUTY TIP IS … less is more. I rarely wear makeup so my skin has a chance to breathe and be kissed by the sun. I also have a very minimal skin care routine cleansing with AEOS products and then moisturising with argan oil. Argan is amazing for the skin and really reduces redness from inflammation and scarring, plus it won’t make you break out or look oily.

WHAT IS THE MOST IMPORTANT PEARL OF WISDOM THAT YOU WISH YOU COULD BROADCAST TO THE WORLD? To transform your health (mind and body) you must first love and respect yourself. Far too many people never connect with their inner self, and have a tendency to believe they do not deserve happiness. Only when you live a life with self-love can you really love and help others. When you begin to love yourself, you start attracting beautiful people and situations into your life, just like you deserve.

WHAT IS IT INSPIRES YOU TO DO WHAT YOU DO? Seeing the amazing transformations in peoples health and wellbeing is the most incredible thing. My job is so rewarding and I’m really grateful and privileged that my passion is also my career. My girls have been raised on a plant-based diet and seeing them so happy and thriving inspires me to continue helping other families to do the same for their and the planets health. I am also very lucky to have such a lovely partner, a chiropractor who is so knowledgeable and has an enormous passion for peoples health and wellbeing. I have learnt so much from him and he continues to inspire me each day.

Hayley Richards is a certified plant-based nutritionist and living food chef, holistic womens health coach, and busy mum based in Nelson, New Zealand.

After overcoming her 10 year battle with bulimia nervosa and many ‘incurable’ digestive disorders with diet and lifestyle changes, Hayley is dedicated to helping others through their struggles with eating disorders and has a special interest in restoring good gut health. Passionate about educating others on the benefits of following an organic plant-based diet and healing chronic diseases associated with poor lifestyle choices, Hayley runs a series of workshops in Nelson. These are based around whole-food recipes that are naturally free from gluten, refined sugar, dairy, meat, eggs and guilt. Her workshops incorporate information about nutritional profiles of key healing foods, making positive lifestyle choices, and other areas of wellness such as the importance of learning self love and the benefits of chiropractic care, meditation and yoga.

    Well done on your vegan ideas.

    Does your Coconut Yoghurt contain any of the ‘Gums’?

    I have secondary cancer and an under active thyroid, so need to be careful with my diet.

    Much of my nutrition comes from Juiced Wheat Grass. Taken first thing in the morning and last thing at night. But I enjoy, and make a point of consuming, coconut yoghurt, in its purest form. Hence my questioning your ingredients.

    I also note that you posed in a fur coat or wrap. This may not be good for the image.
