One of the things I love most about working in the health and beauty industry is the friendships I’ve made with other women in the industry. There isn’t a single day over the past 10 years of owning my own business where it’s felt like ‘work’ to me. I put this down to two factors – one, I deeply passionately wholeheartedly love what I do; and two, the support, enthusiasm and generosity of other people in the industry. Kris Abbey falls into that ‘number two’. We first met about 10 years ago, when I was just launching my business. So I rocked around to her house to gift her a hands-on energetic treatment that I do, and to leave a selection of my products with her to experience and hopefully feature on the pages of her jaw-droopingly beautiful magazine … you know the kind I mean … with those seductive pages that transport you to the world’s most beautiful spa locations in just an instant of deep diving in to the photograph with your mind. Kris’ life is enough to make anyone envious … when she’s not at home – living a healthy, balanced active life – at her Northern Sydney Beaches home, she’s traveling around the world to review the world’s best spas. When it comes to the art of holistic balance, Kris is it!
I CAN’T LIVE WITHOUT … as cliche as this is, I have to say my family and friends (and Alfie, our crazy Spoodle). They give me joy, purpose and a lot of laughs.
I RELAX BY … being near water. Whether a swim in the ocean after a stressful day, a walk along the foreshore as the sun rises or jogging along the sand. The minute I smell, hear and see water, my calm-factor kicks in.
I LIKE TO … surround myself with good, positive people. But if they’re not about I’m pretty content to spend time alone doing something outdoors in the fresh air.
I THINK BEAUTY IS … being so comfortable in your own skin you just ooze confidence – which is a beautiful thing. I love seeing people who just rock what they’ve got. That’s true beauty.
MY FAVOURITE BEAUTY TREATMENT THAT LEAVES ME LOOKING AND FEELING NATURALLY BEAUTIFUL IS … Oooh, that’s a tough one ‘cause my day job is to spend time in spas and review them. I’ve experienced too many beautiful treatments to single one out. Although a good eyebrow shape is a fave for a quick ‘ahhh that’s better’ treatment.
MY NUMBER ONE BEAUTY TIP IS … drink plenty of water and eat a diet rich in fresh fruit and vegetables. And focus on all your beautiful attributes.
WHAT IS THE MOST IMPORTANT PEARL OF WISDOM THAT YOU WISH YOU COULD BROADCAST TO THE WORLD? Don’t sweat the small stuff. Life is too short to waste time focusing on the negative.
WHAT IS IT INSPIRES YOU TO DO WHAT YOU DO? I love inspiring people to do something that makes them healthier or feel better about themselves. It’s not just a food and exercise thing – it’s going outside your comfort zone and exploring what is possible. And what I love about the Spa & Wellness industry is it provides a nurturing and non-confronting environment for this to happen.

Through a holistic, realistic approach to health that combines fitness, nutrition, and mental wellbeing (think: slaying those demons). I know that dieting and denial suck, which is why when you work with me, they’re never on the table” – Kris Abbey
