INTERNATIONAL MAKEUP ARTIST, FOUNDER AND EDITOR-IN-CHIEF OF GREEN BEAUTY TEAM
I CAN’T LIVE WITHOUT … lip balm.
I RELAX BY … listening to acoustic music, taking an epsom salts bath and breathing deeply.
I LIKE TO … eat! It shocks a lot of people because I’m so slender, but high quality, beautifully prepare food is so important to me. When I travel to a new city I base most of my impression on how I enjoyed their local food. What I learned this summer is I won’t be going back to Madrid ever, but will eat my way through Italy instead. I also really love to dance and sing. They are great outlets for moving energy.
I THINK BEAUTY IS … the love in someone’s heart. Corny as that may sound, that love infuses everything about them – the glimmer in their eyes, how they treat others, and the art they create. I find beauty in the soulfulness of the human experience and I truly believe there is something captivatingly beautiful about every single person. Oh and we can’t leave out nature. The diversity and intricacy of it blows my mind all the time.
MY FRIDGE USUALLY CONTAINS … organic almond milk, cheese, chicken, seasonal veggies, tomato sauce, butter, and chocolate.
MY EXERCISE ROUTINE IS … carrying my makeup bags and luggage through NYC, up and down stairs in subways, airports, and trains. Seriously I haven’t been to a gym (except on shoots) in years and my body is still very toned. I love to stretch and when I can go work it out on the dance floor.
MY FAVOURITE BEAUTY TREATMENT THAT LEAVES ME LOOKING AND FEELING NATURALLY BEAUTIFUL IS … scrubbing myself head to toe in a steamy shower. Then applying decadent oils to massage into my face and body afterwards. My favorite facial mask/exfoliant right now is Josh Rosebrook’s Active Enzyme Exfoliator.
MY NUMBER ONE BEAUTY TIP IS … be gentle to yourself and skin with the thoughts you think, the food you eat, your lifestyle, the products you use and how you touch your face.
Kristen Arnett has been immersed in the world of beauty for over 15 years, with roles ranging from product development to high-profile fashion work. She is both an international makeup artist and the founder and editor-in-chief of GreenBeautyTeam.com
Shortly after receiving her business degree at University of Southern California, Kristen worked for a large cosmetics brand, collaborating on color collections and product development. Years later, she quit corporate life to become a freelance makeup artist … and never looked back.
Kristen’s makeup work spans print advertising, magazines, celebrities and private clients. During fashion weeks in New York, Milan and Paris, Kristen works on the best makeup teams in the business for the biggest names in fashion. Kristen is respected in fashion circles for her skill at enhancing beauty without the need for harmful chemicals. ELLE Magazine featured her as a leader in green beauty and for her, one of Martha Stewart Whole Living’s “Natural Beauty Gurus”, green isn’t just another shade in her palette nor is it a limiting factor in her work, but rather a defining one. Her unique expertise in non-toxic makeup gives clients a bevy of high-performance cosmetics to help keep skin balanced, healthy, and looking spectacular under any circumstance.
As an expert she appears on television, writes beauty articles for several publications, speaks and trains people around the globe (in both English and Italian). Currently a writer for Whole Foods Market, she creates inventive recipes that emphasize food for beauty.
Though transformation through makeup was always her passion, at age 15 makeup became a necessity to hide acne; a skincare battle that would last a decade. Unsuccessful medical treatments led Kristen to seek other solutions, and to the ultimate discovery that natural skin care and healthy nutrition were her answers. Kristen credits May Lindstrom as the person who officially introduced her into the green beauty world, and since then has been a true devotee. Based on her research, Kristen built a makeup kit and a beauty cabinet filled with cosmetics that work as hard as they play; that are nourishing for the body and better for the environment…and help keep skin clear!
A stickler for health, Kristen now focuses her talents and personal ethics to educating people about sustainable beauty, a topic she believes leads to true vitality and happiness in life.
