5 minutes with natural beauty, Sarah Todd

I CAN’T LIVE WITHOUT … delicious and nutritious food.

I RELAX BY … playing with my son Phoenix. He makes me laugh so much. He is the one thing that can make me think about nothing other than being in the present moment.

I LIKE TO … cook and entertain for family and friends.

I THINK BEAUTY IS … what is inside of us and can only be seen with actions, not appearances or words.

MY FAVOURITE BEAUTY TREATMENT THAT LEAVES ME LOOKING AND FEELING NATURALLY BEAUTIFUL IS … a long soak in the bath, then exfoliate followed by a light spray tan (too much sun isn’t good for the skin).

MY NUMBER ONE BEAUTY TIP IS … to nourish and heal from the inside first. Food is the most powerful beauty product you will ever find.

WHAT IS THE MOST IMPORTANT PEARL OF WISDOM THAT YOU WISH YOU COULD BROADCAST TO THE WORLD? Find what you love to do and make that your job, that way you will never work a day in your life.

WHAT IS IT INSPIRES YOU TO DO WHAT YOU DO? I am inspired by my passion and that is the love of food. I have seen that it isn’t just fuel for our bodies but it has a deep emotional connection to our life. No matter what language you speak, it is universal.

Sarah Todd wasn’t always dreaming of paprika and pork bellies. She grew up in the small town of Walkerston in Queensland, raised by a single mother with little time and whose ‘meat and three-veg’ philosophy probably allowed her nutrition levels to flourish but left Sarah’s tastebuds begging for more. But in the beginning, fate had other ideas.

At 18, Sarah was discovered as a model and moved to Sydney under contract. She then spent most of her career travelling the world and working for high-end fashion labels. Through visiting amazing places like London, New York, Germany and New Zealand, Sarah discovered a love for food culture that she previously hadn’t never known. Exposure to so many different and exciting cuisines exhilarated her imagination and she began to feel heady with possibility.

Meeting her partner, brought with it the experience of the beauty and colour of Indian culture, and the idea crystallised in Sarah’s head that the food experience was transformative. Through adding a gorgeous spice rub to a piece of meat, you really lifted that dish to a new level. You created art.

Those of you who followed Sarah’s journey on Masterchef Australia will see her passion and desire for knowledge was only intensified through working with so many talented others. Now it’s Sarah’s turn to share with you what she’s learnt, and bring that special splash of magic and creativity into your kitchens via her website
