NUTRITION NOTES: COCONUT WATER
Coconut water is the clear liquid inside young coconuts. Please don’t confuse this with coconut milk, which is bought in a can.
“Coconut water is the very stuff of nature, biologically pure, full of natural sugars, salts, and vitamins to ward off fatigue … and is the next wave of energy drinks but natural!” Mortin Satin, chief of the Food and Agriculture Organization of the United Nations, has reportedly said. “It’s a natural isotonic beverage, with the same level of electrolytic balance as we have in our blood. It’s the fluid of life, so to speak.”
If you exercise and sweat, then I highly recommend rehydrating with coconut water. After an intense workout it’s the only drink that makes me feel completely rehydrated after a 90-minute sweat.
